This is what it's like for me

You do not talk about Fight Club.

If you have found yourself reading the thoughts loosely strung together on this blog, you are most likely an ardent fan and avid player of Halo 2 on Xbox Live. Why else [and even more importantly, how else] would you have come here? While my friends and relatives may stop by to make sure that I am still 'okay', little of what is spoken here makes any amount of sense to the uninitiated. This blog, much like hundreds of fansites, has a bit of a one track mind. And thank The Forerunner for that! If not for safe fanboy havens like Tied the Leader [and everywhere else you misappropriate your employer's payroll resources], with whom would you share your rants and war stories as a gamer? You can't take those pearls of conversation to the water cooler, or out onto the street. Oh, no; Mister!

You do not talk about Fight Club. The general population of gamers has never been healthier. And we need to stick together. No one really knows what we are talking about when we tell them that we cannot accept their invitations to venture out of doors [GASP!] because our clan has arranged a challenge with another clan. To them, it sounds like you are painting your face blue and making your way to Stirling Bridge. Those poor, deprived souls have no concept of the blood-pounding rush that only comes from delivering your opponent's flag safely back to the glowing circle in the keep of your base.

Nope... You do not talk about fight club. No matter how you try, you will never convince someone who has never participated in an online multiplayer experience how cool you are for scoring a Killtacular in the insanity of a Multi-Team match - just last night. You might as well tell them that you are working on a killer Jedi costume for Halloween. Your fascinating tales of skill and domination will only be met with the frozen stare of someone who is politely masking their pity. Even worse, they may be masking their fear! Just last week, my morning walk to work through the maze of Downtown Chicago found me chatting away on my mobile phone with a teammate.

Him and I were catching up and planning some time to train up for an evening of organized gaming against the professional detachment from an event. As I came to rest at a stoplight, traffic whizzing by at fatal speeds, I let it slip: "We will have time to sort out the details tonight; but if we have enough snipers in place on the high ground, we should have no problem arming the bomb." Did I say that? Yes. Did the trenchcoat standing next to me [the one waiting for the same light to turn Green] hear me say it? Yup! The sidelong glance was unmistakable. What must that poor bastard be thinking?

Do I tell him that I am playing a video game with enough seriousness to warrant a telephone conversation before I reach my desk? Or do I let him wonder which building in the skyline might be gone if he does not tackle me right now. Either way, the explanation would go bad. When the traffic signal changes, I let him get a head start at putting some distance between us, with his briefcase clutched in a white-knuckled grip. Perhaps Morpheus said it best: "No one can be told what the Matrix is..."

Needs updating...

And yes... I'm aware that I need to update this place, the photos, the music list, everything else and add a few other cool things!

So watch this space! (no pun intended)

Community Sites

I'm sure most people know about various sites that are quite popular at the moment. These community sites, such as Bebo, Hi5, Ringo, and many others people seem to find and join, are really beginning to annoy me. Why can't there just be one, or just one really good one that everyone uses. I have a profile in nearly all of them, but I don't really use them. I only really use this MSN Space for anything.

Sure, some of them are quite cool, and you can do some pretty nifty things with them, but there are just too many to keep up with! So if I don't seem to be contacting you through those sites, it's not because I don't like you, it's because I have probably forgotten about the site!

I'll always use MSN Messenger (or Windows Live Messenger 8.0 as it's being called now) and keep this space fairly up-to-date. And also my own website which is coming along nicely: www.thrash777.co.uk

Me and Halo 2

I have just realised that I haven't said much about me and Halo 2!

Ok, my GamerTag is "Thrash 777" and I mostly play Halo 2 online.

Although, now that I have a 360, I've been playing a lot of different games online, such as Chromehounds, Perfect Dark Zero, Project Gotham Racing 3, Dead or Alive 4 and Final Fantasy XI.

My current Halo 2 rank (at time of posting this) is 40. Any higher than that and people start to think you cheat, so I've stopped there.

Here is a link to my Halo 2 stats: click here

First Halo 2 tourney!

Well, I finally found somewhere that does Halo 2 tournaments, and my clan and I will be participating! This is an online tourney unlike event tourneys that take place at venues on a LAN rather over Xbox Live.

However, this isn't my first online tourney, as I did quite a lot of team matches with my team on Rainbow Six 3: Black Arrow through teamcompete.com. It gets messy, but you can cope with it.

So this Friday, me and my clan will be slogging it out with other clans around the world. I've checked the competition, and theorectically, we should win comparing levels. This is gonna be good!

The rare Xbox 360

I thought they'd be easy to get a hold of after Christmas, but no, they are still as elusive as ever. If anyone knows where I can get one, don't hesitate to add a comment! Bearing in mind I have checked most online retailers and ebay is out of the question as they are all going for ridiculous prices!

Hope everyone had a great Christmas and New Year!

I've had a very quiet and relaxed one this year round, but still enjoyed it.

SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!

For all of today, it has jus kept snowing! It has been settling really nicely, and when there was enough, everyone on campus went outside in the blizzard and had jus one MASSIVE snowball war! It was absolutely incredible! Our hall went around campus, finding small skirmishes and joining in, or "sniping" people from afar. And whenever there was an open window... hehe, I think you get the picture!

About my life at Uni...

Ok, so I haven't said much since I been at Uni, I just been so busy, I keep forgetting!

Well, my block is full of great people, there are 30 of us, 10 on each floor, I'm on the bottom floor. The biggest surprise was when I found out that Isla, yes Isla from RMGS, is in my block! So that was nice to know that someone from back home was so close! Opposite me is a guy, named Graeme, who I have become good friends with, probably cos he has xbox live, lol! As well as a few more people! There are a few returners in my block, which has proven VERY useful! The only problem with my hall as a whole, is that they don't have common rooms per block, they just have the games room and TV room between all 650 of us in Elvyn Richards. We have kitchens on each floor, but they are tiny, you can only fit one person width ways, for an idea of the size!

Side note to those whom it may apply: I continue my quest to actually complete unfinished games of mine. These include; FFX (99%), FFX2 (1%), Zelda:WW (33%), Star Ocean (15%), Devil May Cry 3 (40%?), PSO III (meh%) and FFVII (2nd time round, 0%)

The food here is good, some people have moaned about it, but I think it's great. Meal times are always fun, cos our block sit on the same table and jus chat about anything and everything. Breakfast is the best, I always have everything; cereal, toast, fry up, yoghurt. You've gotta be careful when queuing up, cos people like to whack your tray out of your hand! I hold my tray loosely, so I'm a target, but I have lightning reactions and tighten my grip as their tray hits mine! It's true! I keep surprising myself with that!

The network and internet are great. Very fast, and relaxed restrictions. Also, you can put your computer on the network, so you can get music and films off people really easily. Everyone shares music and films everywhere, the most popular being LOST, I got the whole of series 1, and we're up to episode 8 of series 2 at the mo, and going on! I have also now discovered ebay to be excellent for students, I use it A LOT more now!

The great thing about Loughborough Uni, is that it has its own Student Union building on campus, which is the venue for going out by night, and sport and clubs as well as shops and stuff by day. It's like a multi-purpose place for students! It has many rooms open for night life, a relaxed bar-like area, a night club section, a massive drinks bar and many more similar.

I have joined Table Tennis and Ultimate Frisbee, and surprisingly, as good as I am at table tennis, I play Ultimate all the time instead of table tennis! Mainly because the ultimate people are so friendly and are jus great fun! I have had so many laughs going out with them! I have become quite a proficient frisbee (or disc) thrower and catcher now, it's great fun! The question I get asked the most is, how do you play? Briefly: Two endzones; to score, you catch the disc in the opposite endzone by passing the disc up the field, can't move with the disc, no contact. Ok? So far, I have played in a tournament every weekend, and we do pretty well! We have won 2 and are going strong in a league at mo, and we got through to nationals! Yay!

My course is ok, I thought there would've been more physics and less maths on a Physics with Maths course! So I will be changing course to straight physics, cos there is jus too much maths. So far, it has ALL been revision, from yr7 maths, to A level. I have learnt nothing new yet. The people on my course are nice, there are about 15 of us doing Physics with Maths, and they are all different. There are 250 of us in maths lectures, and about 100 in physics, from what I've seen. I've had about 10 courseworks in maths alone already! I have about 20 lectures a week, each 50 mins long. 6 of these are physics, the other 14 are maths, now you can see why I want to change course!

I also have been trying to get a job at Currys, which will help the finacial issue! Always good to have a bit of pocket money instead of draining the loan dry!

The Christian Union is good, I've only been 3 times so far, but it seems full of great people. I noticed one person from ult frisbee and one from my hall there, which was cool! Pete (Temple) introduced me to a few people and has given me some always useful advice about Uni life around here!

Practical Jokes: Quite a few have happen in my block already, here are the major ones:

1) One guy on the top floor is a right cock (sorry, but that is his name, well, he calls himself Clock Fish cos his name is Ben, so the clock part comes from Big Ben, and the fish part cos he apparently drinks like a fish. So we all decided to change it to Cock Fest!), while he was out, he left his door open, hehehe, so we all decided to dismantle his room and put it back together outside!!! It took a good hour of moving parts of the bed and desk from the top floor, all the way downstairs and outside and put back together, but we eventually put his room back together EXACLTY how it was upstairs! His room stinks by the way, it wasn't nice, but the results were hilarious! The confusion on his face, and the "How the **** did you do that!?" all the while he is drunk. Seeing as he wasn't going to put it back together himself, we all helped him move it back upstairs. I have pictures...

2) One night, James came back pissed out of his head, and he went straight to bed. So we got some duck/duct tape and taped up his ENTIRE door! When morning came round, we heard "What the ****!!!???" as he opened his door to a wall of adhesiveness! So to solve this problem, in his sleepy state, jus ran straight through it and fell on the floor covered in tape!!! It was such a mess! He had it all over him! It took him awhile to peel off all the tape off his clothes and door! I have a pic of the door, but that's it.

3) Frequently, people will chuck lit bangers through your window if it's open, it happened to me, but as he threw it through my window, it went out! lol! So the joke was on him, and I had a banger to use, but its fuse was gone, so it was useless :(

4) At the mo, there is a card advertising a gay and lesbian night going around. People keep sticking it to people's doors! It just keeps moving around the enitre block!

5) This hasn't been done yet, but you can actually lock people in the kitchen

It is starting to get REALLY cold here now... It has been about -6 the last couple of days, frost is all over the paths! It is always cold and windy here, with the frequent shower, but general, it is quite sunny, despite the cold. I'm jus waiting for snow now, yay!

Oh, almost forgot! I now have a very large collection of nicknames... Some people in my block call me RTL, which stands for Rob The Loose cos they think I'm gonna be a loose cannon later in life and jus break suddenly and kill everyone. At frisbee, people call me Jeans, cos I wear jeans to most training sessions! Some call me Pete at frisbee too, apparently that's because the coach thought that was my name, and it has jus stuck with him! I have many others, but those are the main ones...

I think that's everything, hope everyone is enjoying life, and everyone is well!

My MSN messenger addy

Since there is no way of finding ones MSN addy on Spaces, if you'd like mine, add a comment here asking for it, and I will put it in a comment on your space. This is the easiest way next to posting it here, but then you get hundreds of people adding you, and it gets really annoying.
Thanks

Video Games

For all those who don't me, I am a console fenatic. So I will briefly say a few words about me and games:

Consoles I own: (in order of purchase)

Sega MegaDrive (or Genesis if your from the US)

Sega Dreamcast (DC)

Nintendo GameBoy Advance (GBA)

Nintendo GameCube (GC)

Microsoft Xbox

Sony PlayStation 2 (PS2)

On consoles:

I play my Xbox the most, mainly because of Xbox Live. I had already had a taste of playing online with my Dreamcast, but Xbox Live is just amazing! The fact that you can talk to other people now is great, and when the Xbox360 comes out, video messaging will be availible!

I only just recently bought my PS2 off a friend (thanks Ant!) for the sole reason of owning/playing Final Fantasy's.

My GC is dying in it's use, but I had some great times with it (and still to come!).

My GBA has had it's main toll of use now, I only return to it for travel now, had some good times with it!

The DC was brilliant, I had many a memorable moment of PSO (Phantasy Star Online) online and other online games. It was a multiplayer's dream!

Ah, the MegaDrive. Got it when I was 4 years old, and still have it in good condition. I played it all the way up to when I was 11 when I got the DC, I skipped the Nintendo 64 (N64) and Sony PlayStation (PS).

On Game Types:

My favourite type of games are RPG's (role playing game), especially MMO's (massive multiplayer online) and FPS's (first person shooters). Action and Adventure games I also like, as well as the odd Driving game. I also like Flight Sims (simulators).

On Games:

I'm going to give a VERY brief list of the best games I've played on the top 3 consoles (Xbox, GC and PS2), in no particular order: (for the full list, see here, I've rated the main games)

Halo 1 & 2 (FPS) Xbox

Phantasy Star Online (action/MMORPG) DC and GC

Tales of Symphonia (action/RPG) GC

Skies of Arcadia (RPG) DC and GC

Forza Motorsport (racing/driving) Xbox

Project Gotham Racing - all (racing/driving) Xbox

Rainbow Six 3 and Black Arrow (team FPS) Xbox - only good to play online

Fable (action/adventure/RPG) Xbox

Residental Evil 4 (survival horror) GC

Metroid Prime 1 & 2 (FPS/adventure) GC

Metal Gear Solid - all (stealth) multi-platform

Splinter Cell - all (stealth) Xbox

TimeSplitters 2 (FPS) multi-platform

Super Smash Bros. Melee (beat 'em up/action) GC

GoldenEye (FPS) N64

Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (adventure/action) N64 and GC

Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker (adventure/action) GC

Sonic Adventure 1 & 2 (adventure/action) DC and GC

Final Fantasy VII, X and X-2 (RPG's) PS and PS2

So there you have it. But this is brief compared to how much I could go on about each and every individual game, and this is why I haven't reviewed the games, as that would take far too long.

Thanks for taking the time to read this!

Back from Holiday

Well, I got back from Norfolk yesterday. Me and my school friends had a week holiday in Stalham in Norfolk, as a last meet up before we all go to uni. It was great, some of the views were spectacular and we had brilliant weather all week!

I've posted all the photos I have of Norfolk, take a look, there's quite a lot! I just need to rename them all.

I've also added a few more 18th party photos as I got some more off a friend that he took, thanks Mike!

And I found my old memory card from my camera with some more photos on that, so I will add them a little later as well as a music list.

My Space up and running!

Well, this is my space. Just finished the main tweeks and everything, just these blogs left.

As you can see, I've added ALL my 18th party photos, regardless. So enjoy!

I put in some websites, books and got my profile from my MSN Directory (which was handy!).

I shall now proceed to add more blogs, so while I do that, enjoy all I have done! lol
